Is the [Ring Video Doorbell 2nd generation](https://en-uk.ring.com/products/video-doorbell-gen-2) that you sell today the exact same thing has the Ring Battery Video Doorbell 2 I purchased in 1999? I already read that new holes would have to be drilled if I upgrade but I need to replace mine and want to know if I can swap them like for like with minimal hassle.

Hi @user59270. The mounting is not the same and will require you to drill new holes to install the Doorbell 2nd generation. If you do not want to drill holes, you could go with installing a [No-Drill Mount](https://ring.com/products/no-drill-mount-rvd-2nd-gen).
