Ring Servers Laggy Last Few Days
Has anyone noticed that the Ring servers are exceptionally laggy these past few days? Specifically, when I review camera video from my history and I use the arrow buttons to move back and forth through the video, the delay in the video catching up to my keystrokes is exceptionally slow. It doesn’t happen all day long. But for example, this morning at around 8 am EDT, it was working fine, but by 10 am it was laggy. Not a browser issue. Not an ISP issue. Already checked those things. Problem appears to be response time from Ring servers.

Thank you for your response. I don’t see any way to attach a screen recording in this forum, nor do I believe that will really show the true nature of the problem. The best way for me to describe the problem is that when I’m reviewing footage and I want to skip ahead or go back to a certain point in the video, the way I do this is by pressing the arrow button (right or left) on my keyboard. Normally, the response time from the Ring servers is instantaneous. I don’t have to wait for the video to catch up with my keystrokes. Lately (for the past week or so), the response time has been much slower. If I click the arrow button (or even use my mouse to move ahead or back in the video), it often takes a second or more for the video (and extra time for the sound) to catch up. This problem does not occur all day, but for example today, (Saturday 4/27), the problem has been occurring pretty much all day long. This laggy-ness (for lack of a better way of describing it) has never occurred before. This is only a recent problem.

THi @RedFox. Thank you for sharing more information about this. I’ve tried numerous times to replicate this on my end, to no avail. I’ve tried this across multiple browsers and laptops without issue. If you continue to have this issue, try taking a video of it and sending us a private message on Facebook or Twitter @Ring so we can take a closer look. Thanks, neighbor.

Thanks again for responding. If I am able to attach a screen recording, I don’t know how it will help troubleshoot on your end. However, when I first reported this issue, it was intermittent. It would exist for a couple days, then for a couple days, response time would be fine. The last couple weeks, the issue has been pretty consistent. And today it is completely unbearable. I’m’ waiting two or more seconds for video / audio playback to catch up with my clicks (or presses of the keyboard). I’m not really sure what’s going on, and I’m sure this will be easy to try and place blame on my internet connection or something like my local resources. However, I have an unshared 1 gbps internet connection. My computer resources are nowhere near maxed out. I’ve tried different browsers and the issue still persists. There is some bottleneck in the connection between my router and Ring’s servers.

CHi @RedFox, chiming in for Tom here. Since there aren’t any current issues with Ring servers, and we have been unable to reproduce the issue you’re experiencing, it would be best to contact our support team about this. They can take a closer look at some of the details on the back end to see what might be causing this.

Hi @RedFox. I see no issues with Ring severs being reported on our Ring status page. Can you provide screen recordings of the lag you are seeing in the Event History on Ring.com? This will help me look into your concern.
