Ring Floodlight camera lights keep coming on
troubleshooting

I have several Ring Floodlight cams on the outside of my house. They have been working fine for over a year. Recently half of them have started to put the light one for no apparent reason. I have to go into device settings for each one and turn the light on and off to reset it. I have cleaned the sensors and set the motion settings to the minimum but they still keep doing it each evening when it is dark and nobody (or no animal) is triggering the device. Any ideas?

Hi @user_88cf6d. You have tried all the basic troubleshooting steps I would have recommended for your concern. The next best step is to give our support team a call for further assistance.

Hi there. I am just wondering if this is a software issue?. My Floodlight camera has had the same issue with the lights illuminating without reason. Just turning it off as Portugeezer61 is trying defeats the purpose. With a number of users experiencing the same issues, can the support team look at the potential of a software issue? Thanks Roy

Ring support escalated this issue with the solutions team. I was told they would investigate and get back once a issue was found and solution raised. I have not received any confirmation of a ticket or response since ! I have proceeded with my own debug and investigation. Currently I have set a light schedule to keep the lights off during the day. Everything else is set back to as it was IE motion on and light sensitivity. Plus modes is enabled. Everything is working as designed. The lights have not come on randomly for 3 days now.  At night everything works fine. We even had an intruder 2 days back. The motion sensor triggered the light. Our dog ran out and chased them off.  So fingers crossed the lights coming on randomly during the day is fixed.  I now believe it is the pir causing the issue. Swapping the lights for new units seems rto be in hope you get a unit with a our that is ok.

I have 3 floodlight cameras outside. Each one has experienced this problem individually. No reason for lights to come on and stay on, particularly in daylight.  I have checked everything with ring support. They even replaced one if the floodlights and the problem reoccured 2 days later ! I have also factory reset each of the floodlights and then done a power on reset. Still the floodlights come on randomly.  I have been thinking about one last thing to do. As the motion and light sensors are separate. I am going into the light settings and selecting off for the light motion zones. I will leave the lights to come on if motion is detected setting. This will see if it is a light specific issue. I'll post back if it makes a difference.

I am also experiencing this issue. However, I believe the issue for me is related to the lights coming on for any motion, rather than using smart detection. I've just looked in settings and I can see separate light zone control?

The light motion and sensitivity settings are in.  Device settings->light settings -> motion zones for lights and lights sensitivity  So by turning of these light motion zones. Motion is detected but the lights stay off even though the option is still set for activate lights if motion detected! So far the lights haven't come on randomly
