troubleshooting

I have my Gen 2 motion detectors installed at the recommended 7' 6", & at the lowest sensitivity setting. My medium sized dog still occasionally sets off the alarm. Would installing it higher on the wall be a way to avoid these false alarms? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @FlynnFam. [Here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005073406-Pets-and-the-Ring-Alarm-Motion-Detectors) is a Help Center article that explains how the Ring Alarm system works with our furry friends. I would not stray from the recommended mounting directions for your Motion Detector, as this could adversely impact it's reliability. I hope this information helps!

No, the article doesn't help me. I have 3 small dogs. When they run in the room the motion sensors pick them up. Since Ring hasn't been able to fix this, it would be nice if Ring would allow a more robust 3rd party device to be used with the alarm system.
