Mailbox sensor using Amazon Sidewalk

When the mail arrives probably 80% of the time I get no alert but when I retrieve the mail it alerts every single time. I have a metal box with the antenna attached. Could the mail truck possibly be blocking the sensor? Would changing to a plastic box w/o antenna possibly improve the alerts? I have sensitivity set as high as it will go. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
