Ring doorbell
I purchased ring doorbell in June and just found out that there’s a monthly charge to keep the video recordings I had no idea I would be charged, I feel like after paying for it, why charge me for the recordings? I’m in a fixed income and things are tight budget wise. Can anyone recommend something that works same as doorbell where there are no added fees for monthly service. I may have to return this doorbell. Thx

Hi @Jeanlw57! A subscription is not required to operate your Ring Doorbell. While a Protect Plan is needed in order to save recordings for later review, you should still be able to view live view and live events with your Ring Doorbell and Ring app. Optimizing your motion detection and notifications settings in the Ring app will help to ensure you can catch your events in real time. The Protect Plans do feature many more benefits than only recording, which can be found on our [help center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005020643-Ring-Protect-Subscription-Plans) if you are interested! :)
