Hi @metta. No, a Ring Protect subscription is not necessary to use any of our devices, including the Ring Mailbox Sensor and Bridge. There are additional features that are only available with a Ring Protect plan, such as video recordings from Doorbells and Cameras being saved, but you can still use the Mailbox Sensor and Bridge without a plan just fine.
