After changing wifi modem, our devices won't connect; says they belong to a different owner
connectivity
troubleshooting

We changed our wifi modem and tried to reconnect our ring devices following the wizard. They appear to try to connect but then we get a message that says “This device is still registered to its owner.” We are the owner and are using the same email and account. We can’t figure out how to connect the devices. Does anyone know what we need to do?

When you receive a new modem from your internet service provider, typically you will have a new network SSID and password, so you will need to connect your Ring devices to this new network. Ensure you have the correct network name and password on hand, then walk through a new setup of your Ring device in the Ring app using the steps under Set Up a Device. During this process, you can select the new network name and enter the new password. If you run into any errors during the setup process, please review the troubleshooting steps in this article from our Help Center. Ensure the ports and protocols used by Ring devices are open on your network, and change the wifi channels if needed. Keep in mind that not every Ring device is compatible with 5GHz networks, so you might need to split the bands on your router. Should you still be unable to connect your Ring devices after trying the troubleshooting steps above, please reach out to our support team at one of the numbers available here for further assistance. You can also get in touch with our support team on Facebook @Ring by sending a private message with a few details about your concern.

The simplest way to fix it after getting a new router is to change the new router's SSID and password to the old one's. It will connect with no issues usually. And the doorbell has 1 screw on the bottom that requires the bit and handle that came with it to remove the doorbell. Takes a minute to screw off if even.
