Why is voice mail being answered by RING???

Every time someone calls to leave a message on my cell phone voicemail instead of getting my pre-recorded message they instead get the RINGS message when some one pushes the doorbell. It's very annoying because when the caller hears that message they are completely confused. I run a pet sitting business and the cell phone number is for my clients as well, this is embarrassing. How do I stop the RING from answering my cell phone when someone wants to leave a voicemail on my cell phone?
