Quick Replies Should Not Block New Doorbell Events
Dear Ring Support Team, I am writing to raise a concern regarding the current behavior of the Quick Replies feature on Ring doorbells. While I appreciate the convenience it offers, I have observed that once a Quick Reply is triggered, the system records for up to 10 minutes and does not respond to subsequent doorbell presses during this period. This behavior creates a significant limitation: • Visitors who arrive shortly after the initial Quick Reply are unable to trigger a new response or leave a message. • No new notifications are sent to the homeowner, potentially causing missed interactions. • In environments with frequent visitors, this effectively disables the doorbell and any associated trigger responses for an extended period after each activation. In my case; the electric gate no longer operates and blocks access to visitors/emergency services. Turning off the quick reply feature due to 7 sec latency from trigger to response leads to repeated triggers and damaged bell push or walking away. Feature Request: I kindly request that the Quick Replies functionality be enhanced to allow new doorbell presses to: 1. Interrupt the ongoing recording session and trigger a new Quick Reply, or 2. At the very least, generate a new notification to alert the homeowner of additional visitors. This change would greatly improve the usability of the feature and ensure the doorbell remains responsive and effective in all situations. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response. Kind regards, Richard Bushnell Elite Pro
