Ring Doorbell battery draining with solar charger connected

I recently purchased a solar charger to enhance the battery life of my Ring Doorbell (2nd Gen). However, since plugging this in the doorbell battery drains really fast and I'm now having to charge it every week, where as I used to charge it twice a month, so this kind of defeats the object of buying an accessory that makes the issue worse. Please can you advise?
