Scam attempt 'offer' via email from clone Ring site
troubleshooting
battery-security-cameras

I’ve just had an email addressing me by my registered Ring acct name purporting to be from ring. Rewarding me with an offer on a Ring cam. The offer link takes you to a fake clone ‘UK’ ring site. When you click buy it asks for your details on a popup HTTPS. But note the address bar has changed to PeaksPursuit.com. This is a PSA for those that may be a little less tech savvy and may click through everything without noticing.

Hi @t2uds. Thank you for sharing this and trying to help other neighbors. This was also mentioned in this Community post, where I responded with a link to report these scams.

Me too. Had this same ‘offer’ yesterday, stupidly fell for it and ordered a camera, paid on card, then realised it was a scam when the scammers took two debits from my account and I looked at the return email address.

Hi @user_e5ee3c. If you haven't done so already, please make sure to contact your financial institution to report compromised card information.

I’ve had two emails to the same effect today. Knew it was too good an offer (90% discount restocking offer 🙄) and the links on the page don’t go to any other page

Just had the same thing twice today, obviously a scam but still there are a lot of people who could fall for this, as a general rule I don't go through any email links for things like this, even if I think they're genuine, I just go straight to the website via my browser and check there, if it doesn't appear there it's probably a scam, plus what company now a days is going to offer you 90% off.  It does feel kind of targeted though so I wonder if Ring have had a data breach.
