Ring Stick up Cam Elite won't connect via ethernet even though ethernet is powering the camera.
Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with my Ring Stick Up Cam Elite not connecting to the network via Ethernet, even though it's receiving power through PoE. I've tested this on two different cameras in separate locations, and both are having the same problem. Here's a summary of the troubleshooting steps I've taken: Cable testing: I verified all Ethernet cables using a cable tester, confirming they are new and undamaged. Swapped cables: I tried multiple Cat6 full copper cables to rule out any cable-related issues, despite the initial cable testing fine. PoE power: The cameras are definitely receiving power via PoE. (Cameras will connect via WiFi powered through PoE) Despite all of this, the cameras still won’t connect to Ethernet. I get the message that I might be too far from my router, which is dumb. I'm wondering if this could be a temporary issue with the Ring service or if there might be another cause I haven't considered. I've used both the included adapter and two different PoE switches. I've also tried multiple cables and two separate cameras with the same result. I'm a professional network installer having installed approximately 250-300 of these cameras over the past five years, and I’ve never encountered this issue until recently. This is becoming a costly issue for me as I have two installations scheduled for next week, and if this isn’t resolved soon, I’ll be facing another failed install. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue recently? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Today I purchased a third Ring Elite camera and once again encountered the same issue when trying to register the camera via Ethernet. This clearly indicates a recurring problem with Ring cameras and Ethernet connectivity. I’ve conducted thorough testing using different cables and equipment with each camera, and the issue persists across all three units. To date, I’ve spent £540 on these cameras, only to repeatedly experience the exact same fault, despite using completely different setups each time. Additionally, there is a growing number of users on Reddit reporting the same problem, which further highlights that this is not an isolated case. As a professional installer, this issue is directly impacting my ability to work, and I need this resolved immediately. Can someone from Ring please contact me urgently to address this? I cannot proceed with my business until this is resolved.

Hi, I am having the exact same issue. The camera will connect no problem wireless but won't connect via ethernet. Tells me it may be too far from the router. Did you happen to find a way to fix the issue? Thank you.

UI think so, I tried an installation using an iPhoone rather than my Android, it worked right away. I have also confirmed this with multiple people on Reddit with the same issue all using Androids, are you using an Android phone by any chance?

Hi @user_b11ba6. Thanks for updating this thread, I am glad to hear you were able to get the setup completed successfully on an iOS device. Would you mind sharing the Reddit thread you mentioned, where others are reporting this same issue? Also, which version of the Ring app do you have on Android?

I am having the same issue. My WiFi where the camera is located is spotty, so running an Ethernet was the best choice (less than 200’). After all this work the camera requires WiFi , yet it is powered via poe. I see others with the same issue, but with no response. And I am using iOS

THi there. The Stick-Up Cam Elite should be able to connect to wifi or ethernet. Make sure that you are using a POE enabled ethernet port. You can always change your connection type in the Ring app by tapping on the Device Health menu and using the change network option. If you are having trouble with this, please follow up with our support team for further assistance. You can get in touch with our support team at one of the numbers here, or @Ring on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
