Floodlight help

I have just purchased my ring floodlight. How have people wired it in. My electrician cannot come out for a month and said use 1mm 3 core flex. But I wanted it wired into the junction box for my lights indoors. What wire do I need? I was going to get 1.5mm twin and earth. My electrician will come and check it and sign it off in a months time
