Great question, @rurzi! You only need to install a wire wound resistor when attaching a battery powered Video Doorbell directly to a power supply, as described in this [help center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205180710-How-to-Connect-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Directly-to-a-Low-Voltage-Transformer-Without-a-Pre-existing-Doorbell-). The wire wound resistor is not needed for the Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus, Pro, or Elite, and is not necessary if there is a chime kit wired in series with the Doorbell. I hope this helps! :)
