Ring 2 with plug in power adapter

Hello, I bought a plug in power adapter for my ring 2 door bell. When it arrived I tried it out and it showed as power was hardwired with the battery charging symbol in the app. I unplugged the cables to run the wires properly and to not cause a trip hazard, the app now shows as solar powered with power too weak to charge. Has anyone else had this issue, telephone support in the uk is shut
