500 to 1,000 feet range
My driveway gate is 500 to 1,000 feet from my house. Is there any way to use a Ring doorbell at this distance?

Saw your first response and want to clarify I want to put the Ring at my gate not on my house door. I understand about seeing a distance and there are daylight hours by the way. Your second response is aimed at my question regarding “range” and yes, wireless range. I don’t expect wireless to have that range but thought someone smart could advise on solutions to extend WiFi range, repeaters, hardwire solutions, etc. I thought the people in this forum had more knowledge than “take out of box and done”. Thanks

BI guess much depends how much you want to spend getting a system up and running. I think the simplest way would be to hardware Ethernet cable out to your gate using a PoE (power over Ethernet) system. You would need a PoE Ethernet switch plugged into your main router then 'in-line' PoE extenders/boosters for every 100m of cable plus use the best quality Cat6 cable. Not sure if the boosters are weather proof but it would not be too difficult to sort that out with small plastic boxes and silicon sealant. Clearly using Ethernet you may want to use the Elite doorbell providing that bell can be powered from a 'standard' PoE power source, alternatively you could terminate the cable with a PoE powered outdoor Access point but that depends where you could mount such a device. Finally with the doorbell so far from you house you might want to consider how it is mounted securely to prevent theft – if that’s an issue! Anyway food for thought.

Thanks Well, I'm not as stupid as you suggested. But I thought the question was. I'm not the one that doesn't know what to do if I wanted to run a cable 500' to 1000'. Big difference right? If you want 1000', then wifi would never work unless you did not care about the stability of your signal. You'd need a 4G camera and a power supply near the camera. Wired, you'd need a coaxial cable to work at that range and power supply as well. So, does Ring sell anything like this? No, they do not. That's why I answered it the way I did... Asking a question based on either 500' or 1000' in distance is 2 different things. Why do you not know the total distance or explain in detail your requirements? There is a lot involved depending on where the cam will be and the location of the house. Trees, other obstacles, grade differences, and other wireless interferences. As for using the cable method. What type of ground will it be in, is there any high water tables just under the surface? So, to correctly answer your question, you'd need to supply much better information to get a much better answer. Sorry, you can't research it yourself it seems and want others to advise you on something that Ring just can not do with their products.

I just did a customers house who's cable run was 500ft. He had the doorbell elite poe camera and it worked just fine at that distance. No drops or anything. I was worried i was going to have to put a switch about halfway down to boost the signal but has been working fine for him.

I have a friend that has a house and is 400 meters to his electric gate, I have have fitted a ring door bell at the gate. You will need power at the gate. And line of sight from the house to the gate. (The links will go for miles) All you need is a pair of TP-LINK CPE210 Pharos Outdoor 2.4Ghz 9dBi WiFi 4 Point-to-Point PtP Link Kit (300Mbps N) from Broadbandbuyer.com, phone them and they will configure the units for you, very easy to do if you have some knowledge. And buy 2 wall mounts kits, the lot should cost around £100. Connect and fit one to you house and one at the gate when the link is up and running simply connect the ring to the gate access point. They get 20 mb per second and the latency is not bad.

No, it's a doorbell. No even the flood light could see that far. 30 to 40 feet max at night.
