Stick Up Cam Pro dashboard timer question

I just bought my first ring product the Stick Up Cam Pro battery camera.  My question is the timer on the dashboard keeps starting at 1 second counts up to 10 minutes, pauses than starts over, sometimes it goes to 1 hour. I don't have the camera mounted outside yet and I do have it setup for live video with motion detection. The camera is sitting facing the wall on idle inside (no live video button pushed)  and that timer just keeps counting over and over. I have no history and camera isn't recording because there is no motion, so what's the timer doing ?  Thanks can't find any answer searching online.
