Sd card or internal memory
Yes. An SD card would be good. Also for how I think it should work would be a great selling point. While ring cameras are great for their ease of installation and options for power, the weak points over a traditional hardwired DVR system is twofold. First, if the Internet goes down, no video. I've had my cable internet go down while on vacation before due to maintenance or upgrade from cable company. This sometimes necessitates a hard reset of the cable cable modem. So for the rest of my vacation no video to look at if something has happened (break in, damage, etc). The second part is wifi jamming. I haven't seen it yet in my area but as these things get cheaper and easier, eventually it will. If the signal is being jammed it's not recording. I think the camera(s) should record to the SD card first and then later uploads to the Ring cloud or alternatively, if the camera loses connection to the Ring cloud it starts recording to the SD card until a connection is reestablished and then uploads the temporary videos from the SD card to the cloud. If they could do that id replace my cameras (flood cams, doorbell, stick ups) and still want the cloud. I think an SD card with 256gb or 512 would be enough for each camera. Even a 1tb is cheap. I've been contemplating getting a hardwired DVR for these reasons but this would definitely keep me on ring.
