Ring doorbell stopped working.

Bought our ring doorbell last September, had it installed by a qualified electrician and have never been completely satisified with it. It seems to be very sporadic. Sometimes we get someone ring the doorbell and it doesn't even register there was a ring. Or someone will approach the door and the motion sensor decides not to work. But they werent massiv issues. This week was a different story. It rang once. We got the first 'ding' but no 'dong'. I then oticed a really loud buzzing. Went to check and the door chime is making a loud buzzing noise. It has never done that before. I switched it off at the mainsboard ad heard the 'dong' ring. No idea what is happening but we had to remove the doorbell as it was effectively useless. Unresponsive except to do half a chime when powered on and the other half when powered off at the mains. It worked fine(ish) for almost a year. Our electrician checked that the chime was compatible. It is. He checked the transformer, informed us it wasn't suitable and so he installed one that was. I have wired the old doorbell back in and no problems. I have seen others saying that theirs sudenly stopped working. I am wondering if it is worth going to another brand as this seems to be a running theme for Ring.
