New Ring Doorbell Pro

I have an older ring doorbell (1st Gen)that worked with my existing chimes through our wiring for several years. It will no longer stay connected. I bought a new Doorbell pro that should also use my existing doorbell chimes. Will I still need to install the adapter in my existing chimes? Thanks!
