Shared owners/users

Hi. I have a Ring camera. I am the owner for it, and I have set my wife up as a shared user. We both have the Ring App on our phones. As the owner, I can switch the camera on and off. However, it appears that a shared user cannot do this. Is there anyway to give my wife the ability to switch the camera on/off, other than her logging on to the app using my account rather than hers ? Thanks for any advice.

Hi @user_072051. Make sure your wife has the correct location selected. You can change the location in the Ring app by tapping the location name in the top center, which should bring up a drop-down menu. The location you shared with her will have (Shared) in the name. The Modes buttons should show up on the dashboard of the Ring app, as long as you have a compatible Ring subscription.

Caitlyn - thanks for the reply. My wife has the correct location (we have only got one), but it doesn't have "shared" after the name. I can't see a way to share a location - if I go to the Shared Users part of the app (or website) it only seems to provide the ability to share devices, not locations, and I have already shared the devices. Can you please advise on how I can do this? Thanks

Hi @user_072051. Shared Users have limited access to Ring device settings. This Help Center page will give you information on what Shared Users can and can't do. There are no steps to change this.

Replying to the message from Justin_Ring below:This seems like quite a drawback of the Ring system if there can only be one account that can switch cameras on and off. My wife can logon to Ring on her phone using my account, but if she tries to do that it asks for a verification code, and this is sent to my phone rather than hers, which is not particularly convenient.

@user_072051. I understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately, this cannot be changed. If your wife does login using your credentials, the verification code is just a one-time thing. She does not need it every time she opens the app.
