Hiding/shortening AC adapter cable for base station

I just got the ring alarm security set up and I'm a happy camper. I'm now in the process of mounting the base station and I'd like it to be installed right next to a power outlet. The problem is that since the cable is long I'd have it dangled on the bottom (even if tied neatly). What kind of solutions have you used? I saw one post that used usb-barrel charge cable but I don't want a black cable sticking out against otherwise all white plugs/base station. Could I shorten the cable? Is there another charger cable out there much shorter? Or mount an enclosure to hide the cables?
