A Proposed Solution to Remove the 10-Minute Timeout
wireless-security-cameras

For years and years, people have complained about the 10-minute timeout limitation with all RING cameras. Many of us want to monitor our pets, children, or other properties remotely using an old PC or tablet. Because RING automatically records in Live View, I believe RING is employing the timeout purely for storage reasons. I do not believe it is a hardware limitation—heat or otherwise. Dashcams record for hours at a time on a loop and never have issues, as do other brands of home security cameras attached to a NAS or similar, for example. What RING should do is give us the option to allow Live View without recording until there is motion. Then, just like regular motion detection, the recording captures a short pre-buffer before the event and then records for the allotted time based on user settings. If there is a legitimate reason why RING cannot deploy something so seemingly simple, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for reading, MT
