Ring ‘Lights’ shortcut tile not loading when I open the Ring App
When I open the Ring App, the Lights shortcut tile says ‘Loading’ and the wheel keeps spinning and spinning for what seems like an eternity. After a long period of time, the tile will eventually say ‘Off’, and my Ring Smart Bulbs show in the app as being Offline, even though all the smart bulbs and related light schedules physically remain working as normal. All of the other shortcut tiles and devices work perfectly fine, there just seems to be an issue with the Lights shortcut tile for some reason? Sometimes when I close the app (but leave it open in the background), and then reopen it after a period of time, the Lights tile shows as ‘On’ and appears to be working as normal, but this lengthy delay is obviously less than ideal. I should also note that this is only a recent issue … the smart bulbs and related Lights app shortcut tile have been working perfectly fine for years.Additionally, I have tried all of the power cycling procedures that I can think of, including clearing the app cache, deleting and reloading the Ring App, restarting my router and phone (IOS), pressing the button on the side of the Ring Bridge etc., but none of these things seem to work. Also, just throwing this out there … but the only thing that I can think of at this point is if there is possibly an issue with my Ring Bridge, as it says it hasn’t performed a health check in several days (but otherwise says it is working fine). Don’t all the Ring devices perform health checks at least daily? Also possibly related, I’m wondering if there has been a recent change to my router where the 2.5 GHz specific devices could be having problems connecting to it … as I have recently had issues connecting other branded 2.5 GHz specific devices to it? The router itself is supposed to be dual band rated (2.5 GHz & 5 GHz), but you never know if something has been thrown off with a recent router software update for example, which could have possibly made it more accepting of 5 GHz devices over the 2.5 GHz devices? If anyone has any solutions on how to fix this problem, I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks

I’m still using IPhone X, with its most current version of IOS. I also use a new IPAD, with the most current version of IOS. My Ring app version is also current and up to date. The same issue occurs when using both my iPhone and iPad. I have since talked to two levels of Ring technical support, and the second elevated level of support seemed to conclude that this was more of an issue with the Ring app failing to communicate with the Ring Smart Bulbs, and not an issue with the Ring Smart Bulb devices themselves, nor with the Ring Bridge device.Anyways … please see my other post with Ring’s Technical Support response (they’re working on it).

I have been having this exact problem for about 2 months now. I even replaced my bridge. So Ring, any solution? I am on iOS 17.6.1. iPhone 13. PLEASE HELP! (Note I read some online news back last month that Ring had had server problems. But it didn't say anything more, of course.)

Below is the response that I just received from Ring’s technical support. I wouldn’t rely upon their workaround suggestion however, because it doesn’t always work … plus I think it is too time consuming to even be considered a workaround. I think a better temporary workaround is to control the lights through Alexa if you have that option. Other than that, I guess we’ll just have to wait patiently until the Patch comes through … The engineering team is aware of the smart light issue, they gave me this procedure as a work around until a patch is implemented: Open the Ring app Force close the Ring app Reopen the Ring app Switch to another app: Switch to a different app on their device, leaving the Ring app open in the background. Wait 1-2 minutes: The user should wait for 1-2 minutes, allowing the Ring app to remain open in the background. Switch back to the Ring app.

DOk, it’s been a long wait, but a Ring app update just came through for me today, and the Lights Tile in the Ring app finally appears to be working as normal again after I updated! I’ll have to assume that the ‘Patch’ for this Ring Smart Bulb to App communication issue was included in this update.

Hi @DarwinGershwin. Thanks for sharing which troubleshooting steps you have already tried. Which version of the Ring app do you currently have installed? Which model of iPhone do you have, and what version of iOS do you have installed? If possible, it would also be helpful if you can share a short screen recording of the behavior you're seeing in the Ring app.
