Pathlights - Solar or battery powered?
pre-purchase-question
troubleshooting
Which of the Ring Pathlights do customers prefer? The solar ones or the "D" battery powered ones? Pro's and Con's? I have had issues with the brightness on solar powered pathlights in the past, but also worry that the "D" batteries will die quickly.

Hi @mburstin. While you're looking for feedback from other neighbors with the Ring Pathlights, I'm happy to share some general information from our Help Center that may help you decide which device is the best fit for you. For our Solar Smart Lighting devices, you can read more about them [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038463351-Smart-Solar-Light-Information). We also have more information on the Pathlights [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025153871-Pathlights-Information). Ring Pathlights are designed to last around a year on one set of batteries under normal use. Battery life is dependent on device settings, usage, and other factors such as the weather. Brightness may decrease as battery life is depleted. With the Solar Pathlights, it's also important to keep in mind hours of sunlight per day that the device receives. I hope this information is helpful! :)
