Bridge won’t connect
Hi everyone. I just got the Ring system, and so far it’s been great. My app was able to easily find the doorbell 2 and the backyard floodlight cam. Then I hit a snag. The bridge just won’t connect. It’s plugged in and the blue light does flash. But when the app asks to join the network, it searches and fails. I’ve tried restarting my router and changing my WiFi from the 5G to the regular connection. Nothing. Any advice?

Thank you for giving our support team the chance to assist, I'm glad you were able to get these concerns resolved! Would you be able to share any details on the solution for neighbors who might experience something similar?

ZHow do you call customer service? I am having trouble connecting my spotlight to my bridge. Bridge health is very good so I'm suspecting it's the wired spotlight

I have the same problem. I have tried 2 differnt bridge units and will not get past Scanning for available Wi-Fi networks. I have tried resetting bridge by holding down the button for 10 sec. I have tried it with the bridge setting on top of the wi-fi router still not showing any networks. All other ring devices work properly and are connected to the wi-fi. 2 Cameras, doorbell alarm all fine. Bridge just will not connect to wi-fi. Looks like the app connect to the bridge then when it switches to scanning for available networks nothing. Please help before i have to return another one and all the lighting fixures i boaught.

EYou could try to go into your settings at that moment it's searching and select your network from there. I don't know what phone you have, so this is just a guess. Also, have you changed anything with your wifi system at all since you installed you other Ring devices?

OI have connected camera's to the same network at the same time and they connected fine. My phone connects to the bridge but when it searches for the wi-fi netwaork it never comes back with anything.

EThat is strange. It's not your network. It could be your phone... What are you using? Some have settings that will switch to mobile data if it can't find a wifi connection with the internet.

I had the same problem, very frustrating. I followed some of the advice here and tried a different device. I tried everything with the iPhone and it didn't work; but it worked on the first try with iPad. I assume it has something to do with the iPhone not connecting to non-secure networks.

PThis really is a crappy situation. Most of the world uses Android and I understand that it is likely fixable with a setting change (tempeorary during setup) but this should be detailed in the app, provided here, and long term fixed! Do NOT put this on Android, you developed an Android App and sell to Android users. We should not be expected to have an IPad to use to install the bridge. I did happen to have an iPad and that worked but I tried for a LONG time to play with the settings on my Android Samsung Note9 phone with no success. Disgraceful!

JI use an S9+ and could not get it to connect to my wifi. Tried on a G8 and like magic it worked. I couldn't find a difference in the settings of the two.

I have setup 27 Ring devices before and after attempting to setup the Bridge, all with no problems. So far only Bridge fails to setup. Not my phone, router, base or internet that is causing the failure. Must be the Bridge hardware, software or firmware.

TGot the bridge today. Was connected to wifi for about 20 min before it lost the connection. Tried everything all day, but cannot get it to connect to wifi. Reset it, restarted my modem and router, start, sat it right next to the router, toggled mobile data, and airplane mode.. I cannot get it to work. Any help?

Hi Everyone, I do data center buildouts for a living and have been around the block a few times setting up corporate networks for the past thirty years. I had an issue setting up my ring lighting bridge as well but here is what worked for me; I hope it helps you out. Challenge Accepted!!!! My network is a switched 10Gbit 2.4 and 5GHz Ubiquiti setup and I was using a Samsung S20 5G FE for setting up my Ring devices. All went smoothly until setting up the lighting bridge; it would connect to the bridge SSID after power up with the blue light blinking but would go into an endless loop of attempts to connect to my home network and prompt me with the same question after timing out. I removed and reinstalled the Ring app on my phone - it was recently purchased but I had upgraded and carried over the app and settings from a 2yo Samsung Galaxy S8+ so I thought it could be an issue - this did not work. Another user suggested clearing the cache but my phone was new so cache was not the issue in this case. What ultimately ended up being the fix was disabling the following setting on my Android device temporarily during setup: Go to Settings -> Connections -> WiFi - > Choose the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and select Advanced -> Under Intelligent WiFi, turn OFF "Switch to mobile data" Once you have this turned off - follow the instructions in your Ring app for adding a device; it should now work so have your WiFi password handy after choosing your wireless network SSID. My bridge updated after connecting so give it a minute or two - there was a message informing me of this which had not appeared in previous attempts. The failure here was my phone was automagically switching to mobile data because when you attach to the Ring bridge's SSID without a path to the Internet and this option is enabled, it will go to the cellular network instead of returning to a WiFi connection and allowing your bridge to join the same network. Good luck and thanks to Eagle328 for pointing me in this direction as well.

Hi @Jboland17 ! Can you please confirm you are performing all of the proper steps while setting up your Ring Bridge? You can view the [full set up guide here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022835212-Setting-Up-and-Installing-your-Ring-Smart-Lighting-Bridge) . There is a note in there, which mentions pressing and holding the Bridge set up button (we recommend using a paper clip) in the case the setup mode is not initiating. While the LED indicators you are seeing sounds correct, the setup mode itself might not be joining with the app. Please let us know how this goes!
