Ring doorbell 3 and BT Whole Home Wi-Fi discs

I am having issues connecting my Ring doorbell 3 to my BT home whole Wi-Fi discs. It just keeps coming up with error saying it cannot connect yet all my other devices use that network. I can’t even connected to my main router if the BT discs are plugged in. Need the BT whole home discs to get Wi-Fi to doorbell.

Hi @GeorgieSBrown. Are you connecting the Doorbell directly to your router or to a wifi extender? I'd suggest creating a 2.4 ghz guest network on your router with a simple SSID and password, and standard security options. In the Ring app, there is an option, during the wifi connection step, to add a hidden network. While your network may not be hidden, this will allow you to manually enter your network info. I recommend trying this method. Another variable to consider is your mobile device. Please ensure that bluetooth and any VPNs are disabled on your mobile device before attempting the setup process again. If you have a different phone or tablet, you can also try to connect the Doorbell on there as well. I hope this helps, but if this concern persists, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) so they can take a closer look for you. I have just got a Doorbell 3 (waiting for it to charge.) I had no issues with my Doorbell 2 and my Whole Home system - I do hope I'm not going to find any issue when I fire up the Doorbell 3. Also - why would I need to use the 2.4 GHz network of the Whole Home when the whole point of the Doorbell 3 is that it can use the faster 5GHz band ???

Hi @essenby. While a 5.0GHz network is faster, it has a shorter reliable range than a 2.4GHz network. For those who experience difficulty in connecting and maintaining a reliable connection to a 5.0Ghz network, I would recommend swapping to 2.4GHz. I hope that helps clear things up! :)

I've been driven mad by this, and now solved it. I was using an iPhone 11 to setup and changed to my wife's iPhone SE. Worked straight away. My setup: BT Whole home wifi as a 'mesh' around the house with numerous discs. BT Homehub 5 router behind the scenes, but with wireless off as the home hub handles it all. I bought a ring doorbell video 3 plus and could not get it connected to wifi as part of the initial setup. I trawled the internet desperate for solutions, and tried: 2.4Ghz wifi, 5ghz, guest wifi, simple SSID names, turn off bluetooth, hard reset of ring doorbell - all a complete waste of time. As soon as I downloaded the app on a different device and did setup again it worked first time. now onto the final installation on the actual wall!!! should be way easier than this I have to say. but fingers crossed!
