Doorbell no longer ringing on my phone when pressed
I've had the ring for a couple of years now and was initially impressed. I even stayed when they recently hiked up the price (even without being told) but for a few months now, no actual ring on my phone when someone pressws the bell, only a standard notification that there's activity detected, which could be anyone walking within the 'zone' Looking into settings it seems this feature is now locked and requires an upgrade from the basic plan to now have rhis feature. It was the main reason i bought the ring! Can somebody please confirm this? If so, this is the last straw and I will be cancelling and going elsewhere like lots have. Selling us cheap (ish) products then forcing us to pay more and more and upgrade. Disgusting.

Hi @user_d2d307. Notifications on your device do not require a Ring Home Plan. If you need assistance troubleshooting this concern, feel free to visit here.

UHi Tom. I cannot reply to your last comment for some reason so have replied to this. I have a Samsung S24 ultra and ring version 3.80.1 As said...I have changed nothing and this feature used to work. Looking into the settings, it says this feature is locked and to upgrade. So my bill has doubled (without being notified) and now the main reason I bought a ring was to answer the door as I'm often out and receive lots of parcels. If it means I have to upgrade, on top of a nearly 50% increase to the basic plan, I like many, will be leaving.

Im not talking about the notification. I still get that when there is activity, I'm talking about my phone used to actually ring and I could answer it and talk to the person at the door. I have changed no settings whatsoever so why has it stopped? I have followed all suggestions and settings on Google including a page linked to ring.

THi @user_d2d307. Thanks for clarifying. What specific model phone do you have and what version of the Ring app is installed?

THi @user_d2d307. Thanks for clarifying. If you have App Alert Tones setup, you should be able to tap on the notification and answer your doorbell. The doorbell does have to be answered within a specific window of time for this to happen. Make sure that your notifications on your Android are cleared. If you need more assistance, you can work more closely with a support agent by sending us a message on Facebook or X @Ring.

So why has it suddenly stopped. No way can I always hear that notification...especially in time. My phone use to actually ring and 8 could answer. Is that a feature still on the basic plan or not? If not I'm leaving. You are losing so many customers with price hikes and bad service/tech.

And now I've got to chase someone on Facebook? This is ridiculous quite frankly.

Hi @user_d2d307. The Doorbell Calls feature you've referenced is a new feature that was only just rolled out in October 2024. This feature, which allows you to receive Doorbell Ring alerts that look like an incoming phone call, did not exist prior to October 2024. I'm not sure what settings your phone offered in regard to notifications, but this was not an available setting in the Ring app before then. I do want to clarify that you can still receive an audible alert on your phone when someone rings the Doorbell, regardless of which plan you have. It will not look like an incoming phone call, but it will play the alert tone you have selected, and you can tap the notification to open the Live View and speak with whoever is at your door. You do need Ring Alerts toggled on in the Ring app, and for your phone's notification volume to be turned up.
