1st gen vs 2nd gen mounting plate holes
I have a 1st generation video doorbell. I want to upgrade to a 2nd generation video doorbell. Do the holes on the mounting plate of the 2nd generation video doorbell exactly align with the holes on the mounting plate of the 1st generation video doorbell? I don’t want to drill new holes.

DO NOT BUY 2nd Gen doorbells/cameras they do not work with modern wifi routers, so as soon as your internet provider upgrades you you are stuffed https://community.ring.com/en_GB/conversations/ring-video-doorbells/problems-connecting-ring-doorbell-camera-and-outside-camera-to-new-sky-broadband-router/66ca230732768e4e3987efb5?commentId=66cc84c279a3546beaf74e09

Hi @user_24c29d. You can find a comparison of the Video Doorbell 1st Gen and the Video Doorbell 2nd Gen here, including pictures of the back of each Doorbell model and what the mounting plate looks like for each. I hope this helps you determine if the installation will work for you!
