WiFi Extender for 2nd Gen Ring Doorbell - Will any WiFi Extender work + WiFi Channel question
battery-video-doorbell

Hi, . I have a 2nd gen Ring Doorbell and would like to try and make the signal better, what is recommended as a WiFi extender? . Will any WiFi extender work that support 2.4Ghz? I am currently get -54 as the signal strength. . While I understand -54 is acceptable, I would like to make it better if possible with a WiFi Extender nearer the Doorbell, due to getting notifications delays. When I first installed it, I was getting notifications instantly, now there a delay. .I have also tried the app WiFi Analyer and am getting -35 on my mobile by the frontdoor on the inside when check the signal, which is between pefect and excellent signal..However the App does say best channel are: 3, 4, 8 and 9..If I was to change the WiFi router channel(s), will the doorbell just update and work or will I need to reconnect it?. Regards,Gaz.PS I added the dots, for formating reasons.

Hi @GazCBG. You can use any wifi extender you'd like, even the Ring Chime Pro, though I would recommend changing the router channel first. You wouldn't need to do anything for the Doorbell after changing the router channel, it will still be connected to your wifi network. Choosing a less crowded frequency may improve your speeds. It's also important to consider that the connection on your phone will impact how quickly notifications are delivered.
