Ring Elite PoE with only 4 wires?
Hi everyone, we’re about to move into our new home and have specifically installed a cat7 cable at the front door for a ring elite which should be run via PoE. Yesterday, the electricians were at the house to install the Ring Elite and had to find out, that apart from 4 wires in the cat7 cable all wires were broken. They now tried to connect the working 4 wires to a rj45 jack and plugged it into the ring elite. Unfortunately, the elite shows no signs of life. Will a Connection with only 4 wires even work at all with the ring elite and if yes, which pins need to be used on the rj45 jack for the elite to work? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey there, @MS33319! The Ring Elite is designed and intended to be powered via POE only. While there are leads which allow a connection with an existing chime kit operating through 8v to 24v of AC power, this connection is only for the operation of that chime kit. The Elite is also not compatible with wireless bells or any bell intercom system using a DC transformers or transformers. If the Elite is not powering up, as a test, trying another Cat5 cable on a shorter run near the router and POE power kit.
