Wi-Fi extender will not connect any cameras?
I have a couple of extenders around our home. It. Is old and has thick walls. However the extenders give good speeds (70MBPS). When using the extender however, it will not connect to any camera. The annoying American lady just keeps telling me there is a problem with my internet. Which there clearly is not. Anybody else have this issue? I also have a CHIME Pro. which continues to drop out. Grateful for any help. Thanks

I have read it a couple of other forums, that you guys already know that none of these suggestions will work, and that you have a firmware update that will help your customers connect successfully to Wi-Fi extenders and I don’t understand why you aren’t just pushing it to all of your customers. Because I’m about to return the whole system because it is so user unfriendly. I need to go back and find those forms. The one thing that one of the guys said, was that the person who helped him with the firmware update, told him that they all knew this is a continuing issue, and they all knew that the firmware update would solve it. I don’t understand why you would make it harder for us to use your security system. i’m tempted to return the entire thing! So, how do I receive the firmware update? Is it for my app, and insulation? Or do I have to actually install this floodlight and have it fail on my Wi-Fi and my Wi-Fi extender, for you to give it to me? Because none of my cameras , supported the Wi-Fi extender Internet. And I am about ready to quit working with you entirely.

Uin fact, your program is so user-friendly, that even though I paid for a year of the protection plan, when I couldn’t download 50 selected videos at a time? Your customer Service told me that I was only allowed to do one at a time. Even though I told her that I’m looking at the benefits of the protection plan for a year, includes downloading 50 videos at a time. She said nope that can’t be right. and I still can’t download more than one video at a time. I had so many problems with my Ring system, connection issues, video quality, and accessibility to download and save evidence of a hit and run in front of my house, that your system makes me feel like a fool instead of safe, as it should be

Late answer, I know, but for what it's worth and in case anyone should arrive on this thread like I did: because I was having comparable issues, this was what solved it for me after 3 days of trial and error (and frustration) - Your Ring camera/device works perfectly with non-ring Wifi extenders (you don't need to buy the expensive Chime Pro) BUT: 1) Make sure your WiFi-extenders' signal has the same SSID (the name of the WiFi network you connect your devices to) as your main routers signal in case this main signal was the first signal your Ring-device connected with. (after which you saw it had bad connection and decided you needed an extender) If your extenders signal has another SSID (f.ex: "Yournetworkname_EXT") your camera will initially connect to it during setup, but after a while will try to default to the first, original SSID it connected to (your main routers' signal), losing Wireless connection all along. This happened to me constantly before I decided to change my Extenders SSID to my main routers one. So make sure your Extenders SSID is exactly the same as your main routers one. 2) If your Extender has an option to boost one of the 2 bands (preferably 2.4ghz) while turning off the other band, this may also help. I got my extender uniquely for WiFi to my Spotlight Cam Plus (which uses 2.4Ghz) No other devices need to connect to this extender so I shut off the 5Ghz band, this also helped with connection stability, but step 1) is the most important one! Hope this helps.

Oh and just as an extra tip: If your Ring device has Dual-band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) like f.e. the Floodlight-cam, it might seem more attractive to connect it via the 5Ghz band, after all, it's broadband and it's faster, right?... but your Ring device does not need superfast broadband: it has no 4K video etc... 2.4Ghz is ample for what it transmits in video, audio and notifications, and motion-detection is done on-board anyway.5Ghz may be faster but has a harder time transmitting through walls, furniture, other objects. Since most Ring devices will not be placed in the same room as your router, it makes sense to favour 2.4Ghz because although not as fast, it's sinewave is flatter and more robust and the signal passes through objects and walls more easily. + you won't notice the difference in transmission-speed with a ring device on 2.4Ghz in stead of 5Ghz since it doesn't need to transmit huge data in high resolution video, if ther is any difference, it should be positive, especially if your device is relatively far from your WiFi-source, be it a router or an extender...

Hi @ajduf15. Wifi extenders can vary widely, in both their performance and settings. The majority of Ring Cameras are only compatible with 2.4GHz wifi networks, so it's important that the wifi extender is providing a 2.4GHz connection rather than 5GHz. Verify the wifi network name and SSID, as sometimes an extender will have different details than the main network. We also have some troubleshooting steps here to try when performing a new setup and connecting your Camera to a different network. One last thing to check is that the ports and protocols used by Ring devices are turned on. If none of these suggestions work, please follow up with our support team to take a deeper look at your network settings. You can reach our support team at one of the numbers here, or by sending a private message @Ring on Facebook or Twitter.
