Spotlight Cam Pro Plug- in Samsung SmartThings integration

I have Spotlight Cam Pro Plug-in installed above garage door. Camera is visible in Samsung SmartThings and I can see live feed from cam. I would like to create automation for camera light to trigger it in specific events. But somehow light functionality is not accessible in ST and I assume Ring doesn’t allow it. Is there a plan to extend camera functionality in ST cloud integration? Thank you.

Hello, I understand that you’re looking to create an automation for the camera light on your Spotlight Cam Pro Plug-In using Samsung SmartThings. Unfortunately, it seems that the light functionality is not currently accessible in SmartThings for this specific camera model. Let’s explore some options: Ring Integration with SmartThings: As of now, the Spotlight Cam Mount, Spotlight Cam Wired, and other Ring devices are supported in SmartThings. However, it appears that the Spotlight Cam Pro Plug-In is not recognized by SmartThings. You mentioned that the camera is visible in SmartThings and you can see the live feed. While the camera integration is available, the light control feature might not be fully supported. Keep an eye on updates from both Ring and SmartThings, as they may enhance compatibility in the future. Workaround Using IFTTT: One workaround could be to use IFTTT Affordable Care Act (If This Then That) to create a custom automation. Here’s a general outline of how you might set this up: Create an IFTTT Account: If you don’t already have one, sign up for an IFTTT account. Connect IFTTT to SmartThings: Authorize IFTTT to access your SmartThings virtual lock. Create Virtual Devices in SmartThings: In the SmartThings IDE, create a virtual lock and a virtual contact sensor. These virtual devices will act as triggers for your IFTTT applets. Set Up IFTTT Applets: Create an IFTTT applet that triggers when the virtual contact sensor changes state (e.g., opens or closes). Use the Ring camera’s live feed as the “this” trigger. As the “that” action, you can control other devices, including lights. Test the Automation: Test the setup to ensure that when the camera detects motion (or any other specific event), it triggers the virtual contact sensor, which in turn activates the desired action (e.g., turning on a light). Contact Ring Support: Reach out to Ring’s customer support to inquire about any upcoming updates or plans to extend functionality for the Spotlight Cam Pro Plug-In in SmartThings.
