Ring door bell not picking up people leaving/entering or approaching my house

We have had our ring door bell for one week now and ever since we have had this it does not work properly. We have tried adjusting the motion areas and this hasn’t worked. The door bell is not picking up people approaching our front door. It will intermittently pick up when we LEAVE our house however doesn’t pick us up at all when we enter or when someone approaches.
