Power Source for Stick up Cam Gen3

I bought the battery version of the above - 3 in total. I want to change to Powered from mains with mains adapter. None of the andap are available at the moment. My question is do you have to keep the battery in the cam if the Cam is connected to the mains adapter? I notice that the output of the adapter is 5volts 2.5 amps. Will a 1.00 Amp output adapter work? Look forward to hearing from an expert please.
