Neighbors Notification Sounds
app-settings

I used to be able to control the alert sounds for Neighbors on my Android phone. Recently, that changed. It seems that the "Echo" tone has been chosen by Ring as a universal tone, and it is no longer changeable by the user. For one thing, it's the same as what I use for another app, and that's confusing for me (changing the other app would be too disruptive to too many people).  And this new tone is too obtrusive compared to the short, low-volume "click" I used before. PLEASE CORRECT THIS.  Please make an immediate fix. Thank you.

Hi @user_571435. You should be able to still manage the tone for Neighbor alerts. Follow these steps to change your notification tone for Neighbors:   - Open your Ring app and tap on the hamburger menu - Select Neighbors - Tap on the cog wheel in the top right corner - Select Neighborhood Settings for your location - Tap on Push Notification Settings  - Select Notification Tones, pick your tone and hit save   Let me know if this helps.

Hi @user_be0af5. Can you share a screenshot of the option missing? Are you using Android as well?

Same issue for me, too. There is no option to select notification tones and I can't stand not being able to change it. I'm on a Galaxy S24 Ultra running Android 14 w/ Ring app version 3.80.1. Please get this fixed.

Justin_Ring here's mine.  The "echo" sound started about a week or so ago and it is driving me crazy.  There is no notification sound setting in "Feed Setting", "Email Notification Settings" or "Post Settings" either. In fact, I clicked everywhere in the app and there is no sound options other than for the doorbell itself. As I type this, it's beeped on me about a dozen times.  I am on Android 13.

I can confirm, same issue, and I see the same screen as this user posted. I also have Android 13 (Samsung Galaxy phone, One UI Version: 5.1). Started about 2 weeks ago.

Hi neighbors. Thank you for the information. After looking into this further, it appears to be different for Android users on how to change their Neighbors alert tone. You will need to go to your phone settings and follow these steps: Notifications > App notifications > Ring > Notification categories > This should be “NH”, otherwise it will be Community alerts > Sound > Select new tone. Let me know if this worked for you.

Unfortunately, there is no "Notification categories" option (screenshot below). I was able to figure out how to change the alert sound by going into my Notification history, so hopefully this will help other users that are dealing with this issue. Go to your phone settings and select: Notifications > Advanced settings > Notification history > scroll down to the section labeled "Last 24 hours" > expand the Ring app and select the Neighborhood Alert you want to change the sound for.

Is there a plan to fix this for Android so we can make changes within the Ring app?
