Still waiting for Ring

Will Ring devices work on 2 GH router with a speed of 10 Mb down, .8 Mb up? 20 Mb down 1 Mb up? Have had 5 conversations with Ring help desk, they won’t answer the question. Cameras stop router connection at 95% then say “fail.” Been waiting weeks for answer to earlier post.

Hi @user_0177da. Yes, apologies for any miscommunication, but Ring devices require a minimum upload speed of 2 Mbps for optimal performance. Keep in mind that other devices on your network will also use both upload and download speeds, so 10 Mbps download and .8 Mbps upload speeds are insufficient.

We have tried all suggestions. After upgrading from 10MB/.8MB up/down speeds to 20MB/1MB we did get the door bell to connect through the app via the WIFI link, though it is marginal as it takes several attempts. It appears 1 MB up is not fast enough for the app to complete the connection. It appears the app is timing out before a .8MB connection can complete hence the 95% status stop. I have been told by a computer shop and our ISP that Ring will not work on 10/.8 MB connections. Like many rural customers, that is the max speed we can get. When we get connected, we don’t have full motion video, however the video is adequate. I believe if the timing the app for connection time can be increase by a couple of seconds, it will work. There is great potential in the rural areas for your service. I contemplated a Ring for myself until this friends doesn’t work.  Please look at the Ring app’s time allotment for connections.
