Ring mailbox sensor POOR in health

I've tried various mailbox sensors over the years and they all seem to work for a few months then drop their connection. I decided to try the Ring mailbox sensor. After installing in a new mailbox I had in the house, the signal quality was listed as poor even though Sideway (per the Amazon map) covers my area. Rather than purchase a bridge, thought I'd try the latest Echo (4th Gen). Regardless if Sidewalk is turn on or off, the signal strength of the mailbox sensor is still listed as poor even when the two devices are only 3' apart. Any ideas?
