Mounting ring doorbell 2
I’m having a difficult time mounting the doorbell 2 to the solar panel made for doorbell 2. I’m also having a difficult time taking off the faceplate for doorbell 2 as the screws are extremely small. It seems the mounting bracket that came with the ring doorbell 2 doesn’t match any of the screw inserts for the solar panel.

Oh @MelMaya2020 it has now just dawned on me (after I posted the above comments) . . . you did purchase the **incorrect Solar Charger** (and it is not some variant 3rd-party version)! I'd be willing to bet you incorrect purchased the Solar Charger for a "Ring Video Doorbell 2". You had taken the picture after you placed the mounting bracket on top of it which got me all confused! Sorry I didn't realize that earlier, but it explains why you have two wire electrical connectors instead of the proper micro USB jack and the mounting holes do not align correctly! You should return the incorrect Solar Charger and purchase the correct one for your "Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen/2020 Release" model: [https://ring.com/collections/all-products/products/solar-charger-for-video-doorbell-gen2](https://ring.com/collections/all-products/products/solar-charger-for-video-doorbell-gen2)

UI had this exact experience this week. STILL the Ring Customer Service staff: including a Supervisor could not comprehend why my unit (2nd Gen) did not have the 4 screws to “remove” the metal bottom face plate. My unit has 8-extremely tiny (like jewelers screws) and are glued in place! Even the correct Ring Solar Charger did not have correct installation instructions; the foreign representative said I should “hire an electrician.” It was redundant to explain there was no electricity involved. It was clear not one of the people I spoke wi the had ever seen the actual doorbell; declined me sending a photo to better explain. Wasserstein has a solar charging panel for Ring 2ne gen; whose instructions actually show the use of the mounting bracket attaching to the solar charger to hold the doorbell in place🤔. XXXX% of the Ring solar charger panels instructions I reviewed said to use screws to attach the 2nd gen Doorbell to the charging panel. You can’t. I think they just put the same Installation instructions with all the solar panels. Given the overwhelming adds and promotions Ring customers endure daily on their “security feeds”; a little more attention to detail in product installation & instruction booklets would be more helpful to the billions of customers spending money on their products. Same with Amazon, this item has been out of stock for approx a month. Same incorrect instruction booklets.

Hi @user82253. We have this page with extra part bundles depending on the model of Doorbell you have. If you cannot find what you need, give our support team a call for further assistance.

Hello @MelMaya2020 , Ah, it was a good idea to include those pictures, because initially I thought that maybe you had purchased the incorrect Solar Charger for your Ring Video Doorbell, because the chargers are different for each model doorbell. To clarify, you do not own a Ring Video Doorbell 2 . You do own a Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation/2020 Release. And I thought maybe you incorrectly purchased a Solar Charger for the Ring Video Doorbell 2 . . . but then I saw _what appears to be the correct_ Solar Charger (by the upper "Lip-hinge" edge at the top of the panel and the two lower plastic locking protrusions at the lower corners, which are not on the other solar charger for other model doorbells). I think your Solar Charger is a variant model (or a non-Ring-3rd party company?) because I've seen Solar Chargers for your doorbell with a micro USB plug instead of two electrical connections). But you should double check that the box for the Solar Charger does indeed say for "Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation/2020 Release." Ring Solar Charger for Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen: [https://ring.com/collections/all-products/products/solar-charger-for-video-doorbell-gen2](https://ring.com/collections/all-products/products/solar-charger-for-video-doorbell-gen2) This is a common mistake confusing the doorbell models. The "Ring Video Doorbell 2" was first released & available in the year 2017, and it is not the same model as the "Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation/2020 Release". They are two completely different Doorbell models. The "Ring Video Doorbell 2" is a discontinued model (replaced by the newer upgraded "Ring Video Doorbell 3") and no longer sold on Ring.com although many people still own this model and you can still find/buy them in 3rd party stores. The newer "Ring Video Doorbell 2ndGen" is the replacement model for the original Ring Video Doorbell and was just released in 2020. Because of all the "2" in their model names, they often get confused as the same model, which they are not. Just too many two 2 toos too in the name. LOL :) - The "Ring Video Doorbell 2" utilizes the "Quick Release Battery Pack" and has a black Reset Button on the front under the removable faceplate, with a single Security Torx Screw centered on the bottom of the faceplate . - The "Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation/2020 Release" has a non-removable built-in battery and has a orange Reset Button on the back, with two Security Torx Screws on the bottom of the faceplate. You should **NOT** remove those very small screws on the back edge of the Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation/2020 Release! The only screws you have to mess around with are the two bottom Security Torx Screws, and the electrical connection screws (since you don't have a micro USB connection). After mounting your Solar Charger, you take the top edge of the Doorbell (just as it is in the picture) and hook it onto the upper "lip" on the Solar Charger (which kind of acts like a hinge) and then swivel rotate the Doorbell downward flush against the Solar Charger. Then using the 2 correct Security Torx Screws at the bottom of the doorbell, and you have to use the "Star-shaped" Torx bit on the orange screwdriver, and insert and screw them upward. DO NOT USE THE POINTY WOOD SCREWS, which can result in a FIRE HAZARD. Look at this web link to see a picture of the correct Security Torx Screws: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041190711-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-Generation-Information](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041190711-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-Generation-Information) To install the Solar Charger for thr Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen/2020 Release: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045714771-Installing-the-Ring-Solar-Charger-for-the-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-generation-](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045714771-Installing-the-Ring-Solar-Charger-for-the-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-generation-) The best video I found for Solar with Doorbell 2nd Gen (even though it is on an RV): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnwv-GniAZc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnwv-GniAZc) If you need more assistance or have questions about your Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen installation with the solar panel, you can also telephone Ring Support for additional help at: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch) Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19, their available hours have been changed also: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041597471-Ring-s-Response-to-COVID-19](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041597471-Ring-s-Response-to-COVID-19) I hope you find this information helpful. :)
