Size of junction box
Ring customer service continues to advise customers that a 4 in. junction box will work with the 5 in. Ring outdoor spotlight camera, but there is no way, at least aesthetically speaking, that the 5 in. camera base will look good mounted over the 4 in junction box. This is because it is very obvious that is sticks out on all sides more than 1/4 in. I just cannot find a junction box larger than 4 inches that will match the circumference of the camera base. What is the solution?

Correct, but the installation guide fails to take into account the difference between a 4 in. junction box and a 5 in. camera base. Those two sizes do not make them compatible.

THi @cgmartine. Where are you seeing that a 5 in. junction box is compatible? The instructions clearly state that this is for a 4 in. or 3.5 in. junction box. If this was from a phone call, maybe there was a miscommunication and you heard 5 in. instead of 3.5 in. I could see how that can cause confusion.

If, as you state, the instructions state that it is for a 4 in. or 3.5 junction box, then how can it be reconciled with the fact that the diameter of the base of the Ring camera is 5.38? Obviously, if one is bigger than the other, it would be illogical that they would seamlessly fit together. The problem seems to be that the manufacturers of the junction boxes are measuring from the mounting tabs, which would lead one to believe that was the diameter of the junction box. I have now bought several junction boxes from different manufacturers and they all have the same issue.
