Remote garage detection help
We have a remote garage that we would like to have covered by a heat sensor and/or zwave smoke detector. The garage is about 125 feet from the house. Vermont winter temperatures are below freezing for extended periods. We have an existing Ring alarm Pro system and Kidde Firex hd135f heat alarms utilizing a ring listener and zwave smoke detectors in our home. I was thinking of using the Firex heat sensor, Ring listener and zwave smoke detector with the existing garage Ring extender to obtain coverage. I understand the temperature limitations of the detection devices. I figure some coverage is better than none. It is expensive to run another electrical line just to interconnect the Firex heat sensor. I was hoping this community might have run into a similar situation or might have some other ideas. Thanks in advance.

Hi @user_7280c3. The Ring Alarm system is really designed for one household/buildings. Outbuildings can be an issue, because the distance can cause intermittent connection. Therefore, the reliability just isn't there. This is why we don't recommend out buildings. If you'd like this area monitored, I'd suggest using a separate Ring Alarm system in "self-monitoring". Note - you'll need a wifi connection or run an ethernet cable there.

For clarity, the remote garage is unheated.
