Protect Plan question - new or refurbished replacement & more
ring-protect-plans
Hi all. New Ring user. For the cameras and protect plans, for the Plus plan: 1. is the extended warranty for life? 2. is the theft replacement for life? 3. are the replacement units, either for warranty or theft, new or refurbished? 4. Can the protect plan be activated by a new user (say with a home sale) to get these features? In other words, transferrable, as long as new homeowner signs up for protect plan? Thanks

Welcome to the Ring Community, @CountryTime. These are great questions! As you mentioned, the [Protect Plus subscription](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021900312-Ring-Protect-Plus-Information) will extend your Ring device warranty. This is as long as the Ring device is within its original warranty period when you subscribe to Ring Protect Plus. Then, once the warranty is extended, the device will be covered under Ring protect Plus until you discontinue your subscription. As described further on our [Warranty page](https://shop.ring.com/pages/warranty), and in our [Theft policy](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003475783-What-to-do-After-the-Theft-of-Your-Ring-Device), this coverage applies to the owner and is not transferable. The prior linked pages will help with more information. :)

Thank you. What about if the replacement units under Plus warranty are new or refurbished?

Hey @CountryTime. Our [warranty policy](https://shop.ring.com/pages/warranty) states that replacements sent may be either refurbished or new devices. If you need a replacement for a device under warranty and you’d like more information on what kind of device you are getting at the time of the replacement, our support team should be able to let you know what replacement device will be sent your way. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. If you are outside of the US, please read our response to COVID-19 [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360041597471) to see how to contact support. Hope this helps, neighbor!
