Option to disable automatic clip trimming in Advanced Motion Detection
I need the option to turn off the auto clip trimming feature in the Advanced Motion Detection feature. Vehicles stand still long enough at my front gate to stop recordings to only a few seconds in duration. If someone gets out of their vehicle the ring doorbell does not detect that and start recording again. I’ve changed motion frequency settings but that has not solved my issues. Prior to enabling Advanced Motion Detection my Ring Doorbell would record the full 2 minute duration once motion was initially detected and that 2 minutes is typically long enough to capture what is happening at my front gate. The reasoning for me enabling Advanced Motion Detection is to alleviate false positive motion events, it has done a great job at that and is capturing actual relevent motion events. I simply need the option to have Advanced Motion Detection enabled with being able to set manual clip length, rather than leaving it up to the device to decide to stop recording before the entire motion event has concluded. Thank you.

My floodlight cam and ring doorbell pro even with Advanced Motion Detection turned on will continue recording for the full length. My spotlight camera that’s solar powered over the driveway will cut off if motion stops and then start up shortly after when motion starts again. This results in several alerts in a short period of time instead of what would have been one alert for the doorbell or floodlight. My suggestion would be an additional option, after enabling advanced motion detection, to enable/disable the setting to end recordings when motion stops with the acknowledgment turning it off would impact battery life.

Advanced Motion Detection is a good feature but has a bad issue that forces me to turn it off. It cuts recordings too early. If you can add a setting that allows you to record a set amount of time after it stops detecting motion it will solve this problem. Otherwise it is not trustworthy. Here is another thread when the same issue. https://community.ring.com/t/advanced-motion-detection-reduces-video-length-too-much/58652

This is 1000% correct. It trims it way too early to be useful. Not only that but the camera doesn’t trigger again quickly enough if someone walks in front of it again.

I would also like to have the option of disabling the aspect of advanced motion detection that cuts the video length I’ve set. My Doorbell Plus 3 cuts the videos short if I enable advanced motion, but without enabling advanced motion I’m stuck with their default zones, which don’t make any sense for my setup and are either way overinclusive or underinclusive for purposes of capturing what I purchased the doorbell for. And often times, Ring’s motion detection is incorrect about motion stopping, thus the video is cut off before the motion is actually over. Changing this setting seems like it should be a simple fix.

Is your motion detection frequency set to "frequently"? You can also turn off advanced motion detection and use the simple version.
