Control record vs. alert vs. alarm by mode and outside/perimeter/inside
When I'm home and active, I want motion detection and recording outside with alerting off or optional, and alarming off. People have cased my home while I'm there, and I want to record that even if I didn't witness them. And we have teens who come and go so I often want alerting off. Perimeter should be recording events but not alerting. Indoor sensors should be off. The current "disarmed" mode disables detection, recording, and alerting, so it does not meet my needs. When I'm home and asleep or in for the night, I want motion detection and recording outside, with the option of alerting--I want to be woken for a potential prowler. I want the perimeter to detect and alarm--that's an intruder. I want the indoor sensors off unless there's an active alarm, in which case all detectors should go on. The current "home" mode doesn't let me alert for outside motion but alarm for perimeter; both would be on alarm, but that's overkill. I live on a busy street and we'd get many more false alarms than real ones. When I'm away, I want motion detection and recording outside, with the option of alerting or alarming--I want to be informed of a potential prowler. If I've got remote eyes-on-glass they should be informed, too. I want the perimeter to alarm, and I want inside motion detection, recording, and alarming on. The current "away" mode does not let me alert for outside motion but alarm for the perimeter. From a UI perspective, we could achieve this by supporting three groups of detectors as "outside", "perimeter", or "inside" and then each mode would offer settings for each group of detectors. -cameras would get options by mode & group for motion detection: -off; on with record only; on with record and alert; on with record and alarm. -sensors would get options by mode & group for -off; on with log only; on with alert; on with alarm. It’s a little complicated, but not too bad—three groups of thee, each with just two selections and the construction is very logical. You could set up pretty good defaults. No need to offer options for the “alarming” state, I think. This seems easier to navigate than the current system, with more capability.

This feature is a must have. When at home and disarmed the alerts are becoming unbearable. There should be an option to disable alerts with different modes.
