Amazon Alexa + Ring
Initiate Ring to Alexa drop-in
Recently my wife broke her hip and I decided to do a little home monitoring update. I bought an Alexa Show and a Stick Up Cam to monitor what happens downstairs from my upstairs office in case she runs into any problems. The setup works fine (and I'll be adding more cameras) but my question is this: Is it possible to initiate a "drop in" from the camera to an Alexa device? If she takes a spill and I'm not watching the camera, is there a way to call out a "Alexa, drop in on the Office"-type command to the Ring and start the conversation? Or am I stuck buying Echo/Echo dots for each room as well as the camera?

Actually, I'm trying to do the reverse. I'll have multiple cameras covering the downstairs area and the Alexa Show in my office. As my wife starts doing in-home therapy and gets more mobile through the house, I'd like to be able to keep an eye on her. What I want to know is if she can call out to the Ring camera (in whatever room she's in) and start a conversation to the Alexa unit. I hadn't thought about putting a camera in my office, but if it can function as a hands free intercom I'm hoping for I can add one.

C@DMetcalf I understand what you mean now. Unfortunately it doesn't work the reverse way, and she wouldn't be able to start a conversation with one of the Alexa units. But if you did put a Camera in the office, it can be integrated with Alexa so that she can use an Alexa Show to initiate that Live View which would allow you to both speak to each other. Hopefully this answers your questions better. :)

Hi @DMetcalf. First off, I'm sorry to hear about your wife but I hope she makes a quick recovery. Based on your message, it sounds like you have the Stick Up Cam in your office upstairs and the Alexa Show downstairs, correct? In that case, your wife can always say "Alexa, show [Ring Device Name]" to initiate a Live View with the Stick Up Cam in your office, as outlined [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031246432-Using-Alexa-to-control-your-Ring-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-). You can also browse all of our Alexa-related articles in our Help Center [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/sections/360006043651-Ring-Alexa) if you have any other questions. I hope this information is helpful. :)
