Amazon Alexa + Ring
Alexa control of Zwave thermostats connected to Ring
I have Honeywell T6 Zwave thermostats connected to my Ring base station, and I can see them and adjust temperature from the Ring app. However they aren't showing up as smart home devices under Alexa. Everything else in my Ring setup is visible to Alexa including the Zwave door locks, except the thermostats. When I contacted Ring, they insisted that I need to have a Honeywell account and enable the Alexa skill for it, but Honeywell says that that's only possible with their wifi thermostats, not Zwave. They say all control for zwave devices goes through the hub, in this case the Ring app. Does Ring not pass along control of Zwave thermostats to Alexa?

Did you ever find an answer to this question? I am dealing with the same issue and need a solution.

Hi neighbors. As mentioned above, we recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of the thermostat or [Alexa support](https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202009680) to see what options there are to control the thermostat through Alexa.

UThis is more of a Ring issue as Ring is not supporting all the functions of the Honeywell thermostat via z-wave. All Ring does is control basic on/off and temperature up/down operations. A fully functioning z-wave controller would allow for adjusting schedules, placing time holds, reporting, and showing equipment status. Honeywell apps are only for wifi not z-wave. If Alexa were to work, it could only mimic the basic z-wave functionality of Ring. Right now Alexa only supports Wifi Honeywell thermostats. I can see why Alexa wouldn’t bother with adding features for a limited z-wave device. I’ve removed my z-wave Honeywell thermostat from Ring as its functionality is so basic as to not be useful.

MI’m also having this issue, I’ve tried disabling and reenabling the skill and when it goes to discover devices in the Alexa app it specifically gets hung on the thermostat and prompts me to sign in with Honeywell but this is zwave so it should work through ring. This was a big issue for many and got enough attention to be fixed for switches https://community.ring.com/t/connected-z-wave-devices-not-being-discovered-by-alexa/167199/14 but would really appreciate if this could be fixed for the thermostat specifically since Honeywell is one ring goes out of their way to say they support so they should have Alexa calls to manage them through the ring skill

Hi @Regulardude. Although the Ring app may be able to control the thermostats, that doesn't mean that your Alexa device will recognize it. There may need to be an additional skill or configuration for this to work with Alexa. I would check with the [Alexa support team](https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202009680) to see if your Honeywell thermostat is compatible.
