Smart Plug Won't Connect to Bridge or Alarm Pro

Hello,

I’ve already been using ring doorbell, spotlight cameras, and alarm pro base station with sensors for a while now, but recently got a ring outside smart plug for a couple different uses. When trying to connect the plug using my base station as the bridge, the setup is unable to find the device after scanning it’s qr code.

I wasn’t sure why this was happening so bought a second plug with the standalone bridge and I’m still having the same issue that the bridge can’t connect or find the smart plug. I’ve confirmed the internet signal is strong, the standalone bridge confirms online status, and the plug I’ve tried a few different outlets, but to be safe I’ve been trying to do the setup in the same room as my base station and standalone bridge.

During setup it asks to do a 5 sec and 15 second double button press, but neither resulting in finding the plug. The plug has a constantly flashing blue light.

Reaching out to see if anyone has any recommendations or ideas for either the base station or bridge to find the plug.

Thanks,

David

Hi @dtennant. I would attempt to follow the steps listed in this Help Center article here. Note, that you can also setup the plug with the Setup Without Scanning option.

In the case that your Outdoor Smart Plug is saying, “It’s me, Hi, I’m the problem, it’s me”, you can contact our support team to resolve this. Please send us a private message on Facebook @Ring or give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. If you are outside of the US, please visit here to see how to contact support.

Thank you for the response, I was able to get it to work by manually entering the code for the device instead of scanning the qr code.

Thanks!
