Garage status "Error" for shared user
myq
troubleshooting

Perhaps this is a known issue? Are there any workarounds? My shared user is not able to see garage status from the Ring app. Instead of a status of Opened or Closed, the status shows "Error". If the shared user then opens the MyQ app from the Ring app, everything looks fine and they are able to operate the garage door. I am wondering if the Ring app is unable to obtain garage status for the shared user because the garage door is in a "shared" home as opposed to their default home? I would like my shared user to be able to see the garage status from the Ring app. Please let me know if there are any workarounds.

Hi @RKJ. Would you be able to share a screenshot of the error you are getting? Also, what type of phone and what version of the Ring app is installed for the Shared User? I share this information with my team to see if this is an intended action or if this is something we need to take a closer look at. I do know that Shared Users have specific Roles and Abilities in the Ring app, as described in this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005235186-Controlling-Ring-Devices-With-Users-and-Roles). Once I have the above information, I'll hopefully be able to clarify more. Thanks, neighbor!

I have the same issue. MyQ works for the shared user within it's own app. However, there's an error message within Rings app.

Just installed the first of two and have this exact same issue. Ring is shared but shows error on the garage door within Ring app for the shared user. Got to the MyQ app and works fine. Ability to work with Ring is the main reason I paid a LOT more for the garage door opener's I purchased, so I hope this is fixed soon! Same day update... especially since it doesnt appear that anyone from Ring will reply to this thread.... Spent over an hour on with two different people in Ring Tech Support. We went through everything that I already did - deleted Ring App and reinstalled, deleted MyQ app and reinstalled and still have the issue on the **Shared Account ONLY**. Ring's final response, its a MyQ issue. Ok..... odd to me since it only affects the shared account, but ok, lets play this game! Got on with MyQ technical support. After initial first contact, was transferred to MyQ tech support to assist. After the 47 min wait, worked with one of the MyQ Techs who couldn't find anything. He then reached out to the next tier who immediately told him that **MyQ Shared account visibility in the Ring app IS a limitation within MyQ at this time!** Options, remove the shared account and use the main MyQ account. Otherwise, you are looking at having to manually check the MyQ app to determine if the garage door(s) is/are closed. On a side note, I thought that when I read the propaganda it stated that MyQ fully integrated with Ring. The ONLY thing that it does is show garage door status, that's it. No alarm integration (unless you add a sensor of course). So before you pay for additional cost of a Chamberlain Wifi high dollar unit, is it worth it when I would still have to use the app to open/close the damn door......just saying.
