Is the wire attached to the Ring [Plug-in Adaptor](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-plugin-adapter-gen-2) rated for in-wall installation? Or is it only intended to be run on the outside of the wall?

Hi @jpthedp. The Plug-In Adapter is designed to plug into a standard indoor power outlet and is not designed to be run through a wall. It is essentially just meant to be as simple as plugging into a power outlet and then plugging into your Ring Doorbell, no further installation or going through any walls. :)

Thanks, Caitlyn! In that case, I wonder how people are typically using this adaptor? Since doorbells are installed outside, and the adaptor is meant to be plugged into an indoor outlet, and the wire is not meant to be run through walls, how do people use it?

@jpthedp Maybe some neighbors from the Community here will chime in on how they have their Plug-In Adapter installed, but it does include a 10-foot cable with clips so it really depends on how you'd prefer to use it. You can find all of the power specifications on the product page [here](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-plugin-adapter-gen-2) as well, and you're always welcome to consult a qualified electrician for any more advanced technical or wiring questions.

I am having the same question. I am trying to figure out how to use the power adapter to my new ring doorbell 4 without exposing the wires, but I am having a hard time figuring it out. Especially since it does not come with a back plate. How can I cover the wiring from the back of the doorbell without having it run through a wall?
